This offer is too good to pass up– but just in case you need further convincing, here is our suggested 3-day itinerary for Thanksgiving Weekend 2024.
Thursday, November 28
Check into the Refuge Inn on Wednesday, November 27, and get ready for a long weekend filled with adventure! The Wildlife Loop Trail will open to vehicles as well as hikers and cyclists from 9am to dusk for Thanksgiving weekend. Additionally, the 7.5 mile service road will be open from 12-2pm. These are the only four days each year that the public can take advantage of the Service road, and it is worth it!
Wildlife sightings, including the island’s famous ponies and graceful waterfowl, abound on this journey. This special weekend provides island visitors with the opportunity to take beautiful photos and create lasting memories with family and friends. The included photo was taken on the Wildlife Loop Trail on a Thanksgiving Weekend. Bring some car snacks and a blanket, because you will want to roll the windows down for this excursion. It is worth it to visit each day, as the views always offer something new to appreciate. For more information, visit www.fws.gov/refuge/chincoteague.
What is better than eating a Thanksgiving meal at home? Eating one with family and/or friends at a restaurant so you can enjoy the food and company without all the work! Several restaurants are offering Thanksgiving menus, but it is a good idea to RSVP ahead of time. Maria’s Family Restaurant will serve a Thanksgiving meal from 12-4pm. This Thanksgiving Buffet will feature turkey, ham, stuffing, turnip greens, and more. Those interested should RSVP as soon as possible.
